WINTERFEST 2009 DATE CHANGE! NEW DATE IS FEBRUARY 28, 2009!
Your regional rep was recently able to meet with Kemah Boardwalk management regarding Winterfest 2009. ACE learned in the meeting that while Kemah plans to have almost all rides operational by late February / early March, (thanks to Hurricane Ike) they will not be ready by January 31 – the planned date for our Winterfest 2009 event. Of greatest interest to most ACE members is the status of the Boardwalk Bullet. While the Bullet had already re-opened (and is reported to be running better than ever!), it unfortunately turns out that Hurricane Ike is forcing Kemah management to push back the Bullet’s previously scheduled off-season track work by one month. As a result, the coaster will also not be ready for ACE on January 31.
In the meeting, Kemah management expressed to ACE that they really want to host our Winterfest event this winter (and the region really wants to be at Kemah). With this in mind, the Regional Rep Team (RRT) submitted and received approval from ACE’s Regional Rep Director for a (one-time) re-scheduling of Winterfest to Saturday, February 28 (2009).
While the region’s policy is to change the location of Winterfest, but not the date (which is the last Saturday in January), the Regional Rep Team feels a major hurricane is more than enough reason to change the date this one time, plus Kemah management really wants ACE to experience their revitalized venue this off-season.
The RRT is fully aware that this date change may be problematic for some members, and this decision was an extremely tough one for us to make. However, the RRT feels it is incredibly important to support Kemah through this its re-building process - especially since Kemah has supported ACE and our region years before they even had a roller coaster.
On the positive side, we plan to have a fun and exciting celebration for all who are able to come. The RRT has already received a confirmation from what we believe is our very first guest speaker from a park outside our region -- a major milestone for the region and Winterfest! In addition, we hope to have final confirmation soon from at least one major ride company and (of course) we will be able to experience the resurgence of Kemah Boardwalk and the Boardwalk Bullet.
More details will be available in the coming weeks and we plan to have an event flyer on-line and in the mail in January.

BOARDWALK BULLET RE-OPENS!!!
- While the Regional Rep Team did not expect it to happen quite so soon, we are extremely happy to report that Kemah Boardwalk's Boardwalk Bullet re-opened tonight! This is very good news in regards to Winterfest 2009 scheduled to take place at Kemah Boardwalk on Saturday, January 31, 2009!
